The Journey Begins

Welcome…

After reading many blogs and articles about IVF conception one thing that stood out was most were written by women.

I decided it was time to attempt to tip the scales slightly and to give this a go from the perspective of a loving husband.

I will attempt this with as much realism, optimism and humour as i can muster and hopefully give you partners, whose job it is to be the supportive rock, the information which will help get through this.

Why do Husbands even need a blog ? I mean it’s easy for me, i just spunk in a cup right ?

I mean it’s easy for me, i just spunk in a cup right ?

Well yes as husbands the majority of what we do initially in the IVF process involves pleasuring ourselves in various NHS “quiet rooms” I guess calling them pleasure pods or cum closets wouldn’t really work in the world of the NHS?

We are IVF consultation day -1 and thus far i have had to do the deed twice, initially for the GP referral to the ACU (accute conception unit) and the second when we got the IVF referral, as it had been over 3 months since my last deposit.

As an adolescent I made deposits in various locations but nothing quite prepares you for the “quiet room”

The questions that I’m sure went through the head of most men start rattling round mine here are some of them

  • Why is it in a quiet room ? Will people outside hear me ?
  • Does the lock on the door work ?
  • How long is too long ?
  • How much should there be ?
  • Do i just wander back to the waiting room spunk cup in hand?
  • Who decided on this motivational poster for the wall ?

If you can’t quite make out the tag line it says :-

“However long it takes – the end result is always worth the effort”

I can only presume this motivational poster must be a reference to conception rather than ejaculation, as in my masturbatory experience the end result is seldom worth the effort regardless of how long it takes.
